(AsiaGameHub) –   A man forced entry into Jeanne’s Corner Grocery & Deli on Shunk Street in South Philadelphia and stole a counter display containing dozens of lottery tickets.

Lottery Tickets and Suspect Missing, But Police Have an Idea of Who He May Be

The burglary was recorded by security cameras, though the perpetrator remains unidentified and at large. The break-in occurred at 3:30 am on April 26, 2026. The individual used a sledgehammer to enter the store and removed a cabinet holding scratch-off lottery tickets before fleeing.

Police responded promptly, reviewing footage from nearby cameras in an effort to visually identify the man. He was recorded by surveillance video on the 2600 block of Rosewood Street and later in the 1400 block of Snyder Avenue.

Authorities have obtained a visual confirmation of the suspect and are now asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or call 911 immediately if the suspect is sighted.

The Blemish on an Otherwise Immaculate Plan

While stealing lottery tickets may initially appear clever, the scheme contains a fundamental flaw. Lottery tickets are issued in tracked batches featuring unique serial numbers, which allows stolen packs to be identified after they are reported missing.

Once a theft is reported, retailers inform the state lottery, and the series of stolen tickets can be marked for closer monitoring.

Consequently, if the thief attempts to cash a stolen ticket, it could be identified during the validation or redemption process. This detection may launch an investigation and result in an arrest.
