(AsiaGameHub) –   Three individuals from South Carolina have been indicted in connection with what federal prosecutors describe as a deadly interstate kidnapping and robbery scheme that originated at a casino in North Carolina and ended in a homicide that crossed state boundaries.

A federal grand jury in Greenville handed down the ten-count indictment against 33-year-old E.M.R., 42-year-old J.T.L., and 19-year-old K.L.C.

The charges brought against them include robbery impacting interstate commerce, kidnapping resulting in death, use of a firearm during a violent offense, and obstruction of justice.

False Pretense

According to prosecutors, in June 2025, 34-year-old Mequez Bernard Geer of Anderson, South Carolina, was lured to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in North Carolina for what he was told would be a date with R.

Authorities state the victim traveled from South Carolina expecting a romantic meeting, but instead became the target of a carefully coordinated plot to rob him of cash, jewelry, a mobile phone, and a rented vehicle.

Investigators allege that the suspects were carrying firearms, gloves, and masks with them. Once the victim arrived at the casino during the morning hours, R. allegedly convinced him to leave the property.

The group then stopped at a nearby convenience store before traveling to another location, where additional suspects entered the vehicle.

Federal documents show that the victim was later taken roughly 12 miles to Sylva, North Carolina, where he was robbed and shot. He did not survive the attack.

Hiding Evidence

Authorities later found the victim’s body in South Carolina, along with a burning rental car in a wooded area of Spartanburg County, pointing to efforts to destroy evidence and delay victim identification.

Both federal and local law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the case as it moves through the judicial process.

US Attorney Bryan Stirling: “The alleged actions of these defendants reveal a dark and devious scheme that crossed state lines and ultimately led to a loss of life. Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as we take this step toward delivering justice.” If convicted, the defendants face significant prison sentences given the severity of the charges, which include kidnapping resulting in death, one of the most serious federal offenses.
